Obverse description Full-length frontal figure of Saint John the Baptist, nimbed and standing, holding a long scepter or staff in his left hand, depicted in Gothic style within the coin's field. A small Agnus Dei device appears at the upper left of the figure. The saint is rendered in high relief with long robes, consistent with the Florentine florin iconographic tradition. A circular Latin legend runs around the periphery, separated by decorative stops.
