Obverse description Full-length frontal figure of St. John the Baptist standing in the field, rendered in the Gothic style characteristic of early florin coinage. The saint is depicted in flowing robes with finely detailed drapery, his right hand raised in a gesture of blessing and his left hand holding a staff or book. A nimbus surrounds the head, emphasizing his sanctity. The peripheral legend in uncial Latin reads S · IOHANNES · B, identifying the patron saint of Florence whose image was adopted on this Styrian imitation.
