| Beschrijving voorzijde | Hammered copper flan of irregular roundish shape bearing a multi-line Arabic epigraphic field. The legend, struck in bold naskh-style script, is arranged in horizontal registers across the entire field and reads 'ضرب / المنصور / الملك / طرابلس', identifying the ruler al-Malik al-Mansur and the mint city of Tarabulus (Tripoli). The die-engraving is characteristic of late Mamluk provincial workshop production, with the letters somewhat compressed to fit the flan. The surface shows an olive-brown patina with areas of red copper visible beneath, consistent with long-circulated bronze coinage of the period. |
