| Obverse description | Central field occupied by a bold multi-line Arabic legend arranged within a rectangular cartouche formed by double ruled lines, bearing the name and titles of the Mamluk Sultan al-Ashraf Sha'ban II in characteristic Mamluk naskh script. A short subsidiary inscription appears in the lower segment of the field below the cartouche, framed by a circular border following the irregular flan. The overall design is typical of provincial Mamluk copper coinage, with thickly struck characters showing strong relief against the flat bronze field. |
