| Obverse description | Epigraphic field bearing a multi-line Arabic inscription in Naskh script, reading 'al-Malik al-'Adil Zayn al-Dunya' (the Just King, Ornament of the World), a honorific title of Sultan Kitbugha. The legend is boldly struck across the flan, filling the field without border decoration. The flan is irregularly shaped, as is typical of Mamluk hammered copper coinage of this period, and the surfaces show characteristic green and ochre patination. |
