Additional information

Batory's Malbork ducats of 1585 were struck under the authority of the Royal Prussian mint, which operated under distinct administrative arrangements from the Crown mints — a consequence of the prolonged negotiation between the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and the Prussian estates following the 1569 Union of Lublin. The city retained considerable minting privileges that made its output technically and stylistically distinguishable from issues of Kraków or Vilnius.

Kop. 3110 is among the more frequently referenced varieties in Kopicki's catalogue for this type, though die alignment and punch detail vary enough between surviving specimens to reward close comparison.
