| Descrizione del dritto | Right-facing bust of Yazdgerd I in high relief, wearing an elaborate mural crown surmounted by a large globus and crescent, with characteristic Sasanian korymbos (hair-ball) rising above. The king is depicted with a full beard and adorned with a beaded collar necklace and elaborate court dress. A crescent device appears before the royal bust at mid-field. A Pahlavi royal legend runs clockwise around the effigy within a beaded border, identifying the ruler. The portrait exemplifies the refined die-cutting tradition of late Sasanian royal coinage. |
