| Reverse description | A Zoroastrian fire altar (atashdan) depicted in elevation, with a stepped base, a column bearing an inscription, and a capitellum draped with ribbons whose ends hang downward; above the capitellum rises a single tongue of flame. Flanking the altar stand two attendant figures, each wearing the royal headdress of Yazdgard I, rendered in the canonical Sasanian guardian pose. A Pahlavi inscription appears on the column of the altar, and the composition is enclosed by a border consistent with the obverse. |
