| Obverse description | Effigy of Yazdgard I facing right, the bust resting upon a floral ornament, the king wearing a mural crown surmounted by a frontal crescent and korymbos. A double-line Middle Persian inscription appears to the right of the portrait in the field, rendered in Pahlavi script. The portrait is executed in the refined, stylized tradition of Sasanian royal coinage, with careful attention to the elaborate regal headdress as a marker of dynastic authority. |
