| Obverse description | Bearded royal effigy facing right, rendered in high relief in the characteristic Sasanian hammered style. The king wears an elaborate mural crown surmounted by a prominent korymbos — a globular hair mass encased in silk — set upon a crescent device. A voluminous curled beard and flowing hair dressed in a beaded arrangement frame the face. Inscriptional Pahlavi legends appear in the surrounding field, identifying the monarch. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border. |
