Obverse description Bare head of Herakles in right-facing profile, depicted in the heroic tradition with the Nemean lion skin headdress, the scalp drawn over the crown and the forepaws knotted at the throat. The modeling of the facial features is bold and plastic, characteristic of late Classical Ionian die-cutting, with strongly articulated brow, eye, and jaw. The flan shows slight irregularity consistent with hand-struck production of the period.
