Obverse description Bust of Shapur III facing right, wearing the distinctive Sasanian royal crown surmounted by a large globe and adorned with a crenellated diadem, with elaborate hair puffed at the sides and secured by a ribbon. The king is draped in royal regalia with a beaded necklace visible at the neck. A smaller secondary bust or head appears at left behind the king's shoulder, a distinctive iconographic feature of this reign.
