| Descrizione del rovescio | Arsaces I, the dynastic founder and divine ancestor, depicted seated right on an omphalos or throne, wearing Parthian dress, holding a strung bow in his right hand — the emblematic reverse type of early Arsacid drachms as catalogued by Sellwood type 10. The Greek royal legend ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΜΕΓΑΛΟΥ ΑΡΣΑΚΟΥ (of the Great King Arsaces) surrounds the figure, reading upward on the left and downward on the right. Control marks, monograms, or letters in the exergue or field vary by sub-type. The composition reflects Hellenistic artistic conventions adapted to Parthian royal iconography. |
