| Obverse description | Bare-headed or diademed bust of Mithridates I facing left, depicted in the Hellenistic style with short beard and wearing a soft leather bashlyk (Parthian headdress). The portrait is rendered in relatively high relief typical of early Arsacid coinage, with finely modelled facial features. The field is plain, with no surrounding legend on the obverse, reflecting the early Arsacid numismatic tradition before the introduction of a royal titulature on this side. |

The Greek royal legend ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΜΕΓΑΛΟΥ ΑΡΣΑΚΟΥ (of the Great King Arsaces) surrounds the figure, reading upward on the left and downward on the right.
