| Reverse description | The seated archer type of the Arsacid dynasty is depicted: a figure of Arsaces I, the dynastic founder, shown seated to the right upon an omphalos, holding a strung bow in his extended right hand. The figure is rendered in a Hellenistic manner with a simplified but dignified posture. A Greek legend surrounds the central device, reading ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΜΕΓΑΛΟΥ ΑΡΣΑΚΟΥ (of the Great King Arsaces), distributed around the field. The reverse type served as the standard dynastic emblem asserting Arsacid royal legitimacy throughout the early Parthian coinage. |
