| Reverse description | A fully open rose with petals spread symmetrically, accompanied by a budding stem curving to the right, all rendered in fine relief as the principal civic symbol of Rhodes. The magistrate's name APIΣTOBOYΛOΣ is inscribed around the field, with the ethnic letters Ρ and Ο placed respectively to the left and right of the rose. A club appears as a control symbol in the lower left field. The entire design is contained within a shallow square incuse (plinthophoron), a distinctive feature of this Rhodian coinage series. |
