| Obverse description | Facing head of Helios, the sun god, rendered in three-quarter view turned slightly to the right, with characteristically radiate, wind-blown hair flowing outward from the crown in dynamic, undulating locks. The facial features are modelled in high relief with fine naturalistic detail, consistent with the refined Rhodian die-cutting tradition of the early second century BC. The field is plain, with no legend or additional devices. |
