| Reverse description | A hybrid janiform head occupies the field, combining two distinct facing elements: on the left, a gorgoneion rendered in frontal aspect and oriented perpendicularly, and on the right, a bearded male head depicted in profile facing right. The entire composition is enclosed within a dotted square border set within a recessed incuse square, a format characteristic of Philistian silver coinage of the Persian period. The pairing of the gorgoneion with the bearded head reflects the eclectic iconographic vocabulary drawn upon by Philistian die-cutters. |
