Obverse description Bare head of Heracles facing right, wearing the lion-skin headdress knotted at the throat, with the scalp and jaws rendered in high relief. The curling mane of the lion-skin frames the hero's face, with the paws visible at the lower edge of the flan. The portrait displays the characteristic robust physiognomy associated with Heraclean iconography in the Pontic Greek tradition, with strong facial features and flowing hair visible beneath the pelt.
