背面描述	A hare springs dynamically to the right within a closed laurel wreath, the animal's muscular form rendered with considerable naturalism characteristic of Sicilian die engravers of the early classical period. The legend MEΣΣA appears in the lower field below the hare, with NION inscribed in retrograde above, dividing the ethnic of the Messanians across the field. The laurel wreath border, composed of carefully articulated leaves and berries, frames the entire composition with elegance.
