The Solomon Islands has issued legal tender novelty coinage under licensing agreements with major IP holders since the early 2000s, a practice common among small Pacific sovereign states that generate revenue through seigniorage on collector issues never intended for circulation. Disney licensing arrangements have produced dozens of such pieces across multiple issuing authorities.
Charles III's effigy appears here as head of state of the Solomon Islands, which remains a Commonwealth realm — his first appearances on Pacific-region collector issues began almost immediately after his accession in September 2022.
