| Opis awersu | The obverse field is entirely occupied by a multi-line Arabic legend in a fluid, somewhat stylized Naskh script, struck on an irregular flan typical of hammered Golden Horde coinage. The inscription, spread across three or four registers, proclaims the royal titulature of Khan Toqtamish, invoking a pious formula expressing the wish for his reign to be prolonged. Diacritical dots are visible between letter groups, serving as decorative as well as textual elements. The flan shows evidence of clipping or natural irregularity at the upper edge, with the legend partially truncated in that zone. No border or decorative frame is present, the inscription filling the available field to its margins. |
