| Opis rewersu | Central field displays a multi-line Kufic Arabic inscription arranged in horizontal registers within a plain inner circle, containing the name of the caliph al-Qahir Billah and pious formulae affirming Abbasid authority. The marginal legend, running in a continuous band around the perimeter, carries a Quranic or mint-and-date inscription in angular Kufic script. The flan is irregularly shaped and slightly uneven, consistent with hand-struck hammered silver dirhams of the Abbasid period. The die work reflects the epigraphic style standardized under the Abbasid chancery during the early 4th century AH. |
