| Additional information |
Al-Muqtadir came to power at thirteen years old following the brief reign of al-Muktafi, and his twenty-four year caliphate was marked by near-continuous factional warfare between rival viziers and military strongmen. Real authority rotated through at least a dozen viziers during his reign, several of whom were executed in office. He was himself killed by the Buyid-aligned commander Mu'nis al-Muzaffar in 932 — the general who had previously saved him from two separate coups and then finally deposed him.
Album 246.2 distinguishes mint and marginal Quranic variants that allow reasonably precise attribution within the reign's span.
