Obverse description Central field occupied by the Shahada inscription arranged in multiple horizontal lines within a plain inner border, reading the Islamic profession of faith in Kufic script. A circular marginal legend in Arabic surrounds the central text, running along the coin's periphery. The script is executed in the angular Kufic style characteristic of Abbasid silver coinage of the late 3rd century AH. The field is slightly concave due to the hammered flan, and the surface shows the irregular edges typical of hand-struck Islamic dirhams.
