Reverse description Central field displays five horizontal lines of Arabic Kufic script arranged within a double linear circle. The field inscription opens with 'Lillah' at the top, followed by 'Muhammad rasul Allah', then the regnal titles of the Caliph al-Mu'tamid ('al-Mu'tamid 'ala Allah') and his brother and co-regent al-Muwaffaq ('al-Muwaffaq billah'), distinguishing this issue as one citing both rulers. The marginal legend running around the inner circle contains the Quranic verse from Surat al-Rum (30:4-5) and concludes with the tasliya formula. All inscriptions are executed in angular Kufic script consistent with late 3rd-century AH Abbasid coinage.
