Obverse description Central field bears the Islamic profession of faith (Shahada) in three lines of Kufic Arabic script, arranged within a double-lined inner circle. An inner marginal legend in Arabic records the mint name and regnal year of issue, while the outer marginal band carries a Quranic verse (Surah At-Tawbah 9:33) in angular Kufic script. The coin is struck on an irregular flan typical of Abbasid hammered silver coinage, with some weakness at the periphery. The overall layout follows the classic Abbasid dirham format established in the eighth century.
