Reverse description The reverse displays a multi-line Arabic inscription in Mamluk naskh script arranged in horizontal registers filling the entire field, recording the sultan's name and titles along with the mint name Hamah and, in part, the AH regnal date. The bold, raised lettering is characteristic of Mamluk hammered dirhams of the mid-eighth century AH. The flan is irregular with edge cracks and slight metal flow typical of hand-struck issues. No decorative border or geometric frame is present, the legend occupying the full field to the flan edge.
