| Obverse description | Central field bears a multi-line Arabic religious and royal inscription arranged in horizontal lines within a plain inner circle. The inscription names the Rasulid ruler al-Malik al-Afdal al-'Abbas. An outer marginal legend encircling the central field records the mint name Aden and the hijri year of issue. The coin is struck on an irregular flan typical of hammered medieval Islamic dirhams, with moderate die wear and legible but slightly off-center lettering. |
