| Beschrijving keerzijde | Arsakes I, the dynastic founder and eponymous archer-hero, seated right upon a throne, holding a strung bow in his right hand. A monogram appears beneath the bow in the lower field, serving as a mint or magistrate mark. The surrounding legend, rendered in a debased and blundered form of Greek, encircles the central design. The reverse type follows the canonical Parthian drachm reverse formula, here adapted to the smaller diobol denomination. The overall execution is somewhat crude, consistent with the variable quality typical of later Parthian minor coinage. |
