Reverse description A double-headed axe (bipennis or labrys) occupies the center of the field, depicted in a schematic, flat style with a cruciform body formed by the two symmetrical blade faces joined at a central shaft. The Greek inscription ΜΗΤΟΚΟ is arranged around the axe in the field, with the letter tau (Τ) of the handle rendered separately from the shaft of the weapon, a distinctive typological feature of this emission. The overall design is characteristic of Thracian royal coinage, combining a dynastic emblem with the royal name as legend.
