| Reverse description | A plain cross pattée divides the reverse field into four equal quadrants, a standard heraldic device employed on Aragonese and Majorcan dineros of the period. The cross extends nearly to the beaded border, with slightly curved arms characteristic of the pattée form. A partial Latin legend surrounds the design reading + ARAGOVM ET MAIOR, referencing the kingdoms of Aragon and Majorca. The flan is irregular and the strike uneven, consistent with hand-hammered production. |

Juan II inherited Majorca as part of the Crown of Aragon following the extinction of the island's independent royal line in 1349, and by his reign the dinero had been reduced to a coin of almost purely symbolic denominational value — billon so debased it functioned closer to copper in everyday exchange. His rule over the Aragonese territories was chronically destabilized by the Catalan Civil War of 1462–1472, during which Majorca itself was drawn into the conflict and briefly threatened by Catalan separatist forces. Cru#959 is among the lighter and smaller billon issues of his reign.
