Obverse description Crowned royal effigy facing left, contained within a beaded inner circle. The portrait is rendered in the crude, high-relief style typical of mid-15th century Castilian hammered coinage, with the crown prominently displayed above the head. A Latin legend encircles the design between the beaded circle and the coin's irregular periphery, reading ENRICVS CARTVS DEI GRACIA, identifying the issuer as Enrique IV by the grace of God.
