Obverse description Crowned facing bust of Alfonso V within a beaded inner circle, the king depicted wearing a crown and facing slightly to the left, rendered in the crude but vigorous style typical of medieval Valencian hammered coinage. The portrait occupies the central field with the crown prominently displayed above the royal effigy. A circular Latin legend surrounds the beaded border reading ALFONSUS REX A, identifying the monarch as Alfonso V, King of Aragon. The flan is irregular in shape, as is characteristic of hand-struck medieval issues.
