Aanvullende informatie

Al-Qahir's reign was defined by violence and instability at the Abbasid center — he blinded his predecessor al-Muqtadir before having him killed, then was himself blinded and deposed by his own guards in 934. The caliphate had by this point lost effective control over most of its provinces, with the Baghdad court increasingly a ceremonial fiction maintained by competing military factions. Dinars struck in his name survive in small numbers, partly because his five-year reign was fractured by two separate interruptions of power.
