| Obverse description | Central field carries a multi-line Arabic religious inscription arranged in horizontal registers, comprising the Shahada (Islamic profession of faith) and Quranic text. The inscription is framed by a double annular border with a marginal legend in Arabic running along the circumference, containing the mint name, regnal year in the Islamic Hijri calendar, and the Quranic verse from Surah al-Tawbah (9:33). The script is executed in a formal early Abbasid Kufic style. The entire design is purely epigraphic with no figural imagery, consistent with Abbasid caliphal coinage of the late 3rd century AH. |
