| Obverse description | King Huviska depicted in royal attire, shown in a frontal or three-quarter pose with characteristic Kushan regalia including a diadem or crown; the effigy is rendered in the stylized Central Asian artistic tradition typical of the Kushan coinage series. The field is heavily worn and shows the broad flat flan characteristic of hammered copper issues. The Bactrian legend encircles the royal figure, reading ÞAO NANO ÞAO OOHÞKI KOÞANO, translating as 'King of Kings, Huvishka the Kushan.' The die work reflects the provincial workshop style of the mid-Kushan period, with bold if somewhat crude relief. |
