Obverse description Facing radiate head of Helios, turned very slightly to the right, rendered in fine Hellenistic style. The sun god's thick, flowing hair radiates outward in all directions from the crown, framing the full, idealized facial features with deeply modeled eyes and slightly parted lips. The high-relief portrait fills the flan, leaving virtually no visible field. The workmanship reflects the accomplished die engraving tradition of the Rhodian mint during the late third and early second century BC.
