Obverse description Head of Athena facing left, helmeted in the Phrygian style, the bowl of the helmet adorned with a centauress in relief and the neck guard decorated with a scroll motif. The goddess is rendered with fine archaic-to-classical transitional artistry, with detailed facial features and flowing hair visible beneath the helmet. Behind the neck guard appears the monogram of the engraver ΚΛΕΥ (Kleudoros), serving as a die-sinker's signature. The overall style is characteristic of the accomplished South Italian Greek coinage of the late fourth century BC.
