| 正面描述 | Bust of a king facing right, wearing a tall Armenian tiara or pointed helmet adorned with an earflap, rendered in low relief on an irregularly shaped bronze flan. The facial features, though worn, suggest a bearded male effigy in the Hellenistic tradition. The field is largely plain, with traces of a surrounding legend partially visible along the upper rim. The striking is characteristic of hammered provincial bronze coinage, with an uneven surface resulting from the irregular flan. |

Artaxias I ruled Armenia as a client king under Seleucid authority — Antiochus IV installed him around 189 BC following Rome's defeat of Antiochus III at Magnesia, a settlement that reorganized client kingdoms across the region. The bronze coinage attributed to this pairing reflects that dependency, struck in a kingdom that was politically subordinate but administratively functional. Kovacs 39 is among the less common varieties in the series.
