Obverse description Facing bust of the young king Wenceslaus rendered in a crude, archaic hammered style, with large staring eyes, flowing hair falling to either side of the face, and a crown or decorated headpiece above. The portrait is depicted frontally within the irregular flan, surrounded by a circular legend in Latin. The artistic execution is characteristic of early 14th-century Hungarian bracteate-influenced deniers, with bold but unsophisticated die-cutting.
Obverse script Latin
Obverse lettering WENCEZLAVS REX
