Flanking devices and fragmented Latin letter forms are distributed around the periphery in a manner consistent with Bohemian ducal deniers of the mid-eleventh century. The design is characteristic of the Romanesque ecclesiastical imagery employed on coinage of Duke Spytihněv II. The flan is irregular and the strike uneven, as expected for hammered silver of this period. |
