| Beschrijving voorzijde | Royal Carolingian monogram occupying the central field, enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The monogram, composed of interlaced letters forming the name RADULFUS (Ralph), is rendered in the characteristic Carolingian style. A circular legend in Latin surrounds the beaded border, reading ✠ GRΛTIΛ DI REX, invoking the king's divine mandate. The lettering is formed in angular, Carolingian majuscules typical of late West Frankish royal coinage. The flan is irregular and slightly uneven, consistent with hand-hammered production of the early tenth century. |
