Denier - Ralph Chateaudun mint

Ralph (Raoul) of Burgundy seized the West Frankish throne in 923 after the deposition of Charles the Simple, ruling a kingdom under near-constant pressure from Magyar raids and the growing autonomy of its magnates. The Châteaudun mint, operating under the County of Blois, issued coins in Ralph's name as an assertion of royal authority across a fragmented realm where local lords were increasingly striking currency on their own terms — with or without royal sanction.
