| Reverse description | Central field displays a plain cross pattee extending to the inner beaded circle, dividing the field into four quarters, each containing a small pellet or annulet. A beaded inner circle separates the central cross motif from the surrounding legend. The peripheral Latin legend, introduced by a cross pattee, reads BELVACVS followed by a mint mark symbol, identifying the issuing mint of Beauvais. The execution is typical of provincial Carolingian hammered silver coinage, with irregular flan edges and slightly uneven strike pressure. The design adheres closely to the standard Carolingian reverse type as catalogued by Prou and Gariel. |
