Reverse description A plain cross is centered within a raised beaded inner circle, mirroring the obverse design in the Carolingian tradition. The surrounding field bears a circular Latin legend reading + EGOLISME (Angouleme), the mint name distributed around the periphery and divided by cross stops. The lettering is bold and slightly irregular, consistent with hand-engraved dies of the early tenth century. The flan exhibits the characteristic irregular outline and variable surface relief of a hammered billon denier struck at the Angouleme mint during the reign of King Ralph.
