Obverse description Central motif depicting a stylized doorway or temple facade (the so-called Orleans moneta type), flanked by the letters NE and EX on either side, with a pellet or O above and the letters TR within the doorway arch. The design is set within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding field carries the royal legend in Latin characters. The style is characteristic of early Capetian feudal coinage, with crude, hand-engraved workmanship typical of hammered deniers of the 11th century.
