| Reverse description | Central field features a large cross pattee dividing the inner circle into four quadrants, with a small anchor or tau-like symbol in the lower portion, characteristic of the Castellum Stampis (castle of Etampes) type. The cross arms are bold and deeply struck within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding legend CASTELLVM STAMPIS references the castle of Etampes, serving as the mint identification. The lettering is rendered in crude Romanesque Latin capitals, consistent with the hammered coinage of the Capetian royal mint at Etampes in the late 11th to early 12th century. |
