| Reverse description | Within a beaded inner circle, the name ODDO is arranged in cruciform pattern, with the four letters disposed in the four quadrants to form a cross motif, each letter separated by a pellet or small ornament. The surrounding circular legend reads TOLOSA CIVI, identifying the mint city of Toulouse, introduced by a cross. The overall design reflects the standard Carolingian reverse type adapted for the Toulouse mint, with the name cross being a distinctive variant that appears both with and without a central pellet (besant). |

| Additional information |
Odo, Count of Paris, was elected king in 888 by the West Frankish magnates after Charles the Fat proved catastrophically unable to defend the realm against Viking siege — most immediately the prolonged assault on Paris in 885–886, which Odo himself had successfully commanded. His coronation was the first time a non-Carolingian had held the West Frankish throne, and his coinage reflects the political tension: the REX FR legend asserts royal legitimacy while the Toulouse mint attribution places this issue at the southwestern edge of a kingdom Odo never fully controlled. The Carolingian pretender Charles the Simple contested his rule from 893 onward.
