| Obverse description | A plain cross pattée centered within a beaded inner circle occupies the field. The cross arms extend to the inner circle, rendered in the characteristic Carolingian hammered style. Surrounding the inner circle, the circular legend reads ODDO REX FR-C, denoting Odo, King of the Franks, introduced by a cross pommée. The flan is irregular in shape, as typical of hand-struck Carolingian deniers. |
